AER: Memories of Old is an open world adventure game developed by Forgotten Key and released in 2017. The game is about the player character, Auk, going on a pilgrimage throughout floating islands to uncover the secrets of ancient ruins and stop the Void from destroying the world. The primary gameplay is Auk being able to shapeshift into a bird while in the air and flying around the world. In practice it is very fun to fly around once you have the controls down (there are options to fine-tune to your preferences, such as sensitivity and camera inverting). The game has a low-poly art style, and the world as a whole is very beautiful. The game has a lovely soundtrack, and the music changes depending on if you are on the ground or flying through the air. The other part of the gameplay is exploring the ruins, which constitutes some decent enough dungeons with puzzles to complete. As a whole, AER is worth playing to experience its world and aesthetic, although it is not a long game by any means.
